Capyly

The digital layer as a bridge to real life.

Capyly turns physical places (cafés, bars, coworking spaces, parks) into ephemeral rooms. No global feed, no algorithm, no profile to maintain. Just conversations with the people around you, where you actually are.

Why Capyly exists

Social networks made it easy to talk to strangers on the other side of the world, and harder to talk to the person at the next table. Capyly turns the problem around: the conversation only exists in the place, between the people who are there, and it disappears when the day ends.

Every café, coworking space, gym or hotel in our list has its own room. You open it by being there, read what the people present are saying, answer, and go back to your cup. The service is not built to hold your attention: it is there for a meeting, a request, an exchange, and then for moving on.

Two numbers that define the service

30 metres
To join a room, the phone checks once that you are within 30 metres of the place. That is the distance of a room, a terrace, a lobby. Beyond it, the page stays readable but the conversation is closed. When the position does not go through (upper floor, basement, thick walls), the QR code displayed by the manager does the same job.
24 hours
Every message is erased 24 hours after it was sent, for everyone, for good. A room has no archive, no ranking, no best moment to go back to. What mattered was said on site; the rest does not need to exist.

How it works

  1. 1

    You're there

A café, a bar, a coworking space. Your position opens the room, or the QR code on the table.

  2. 2

    You enter the room

You see who's here, you read, you write. A question, a tip, a hello.

  3. 3

    You leave, it fades

The room stays for the next people. Your messages vanish after 24 h.

What Capyly is not

Not a social network.
No followers, no likes, no endless feed.
Not a dating app.
No swiping, no matching.
Not an ad network.
Your data is not for sale.
Not a tracker.
When you leave the place, you leave the conversation.

For venues

A manager can claim their place, open several rooms (one per floor, per meeting room or per event), moderate the exchanges and display a QR code at the entrance. The basic plan is free; the details are on the For venues page.

Made in Brussels

Capyly is a project by Kern IT, a software engineering studio in Brussels. The first places are in Brussels and the neighbouring municipalities; the map shows where the service is already open. A remark, a question, a place to open? Write to us.
